Washington, D.C. – The nation has continued to see increasing levels of hate-based violence and harassment, a trend which led over 150 U.S. mayors to sign a compact committing to combat hate and extremism, renewing an earlier Mayors’ Compact developed in 2017 following the deadly violence in Charlottesville. As an update to that effort, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will host a virtual event on Wednesday, November 16 at 2:30 PM ET about the implementation of the Mayors’ compact. The event will open with remarks from USCM CEO and Executive Director, Tom Cochran. The discussion will be moderated by Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt and will feature CEO and National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan Greenblatt, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg.
