Press Conference on Tuesday, August 27 at 11:30 am PDT

Washington, DC—Under the leadership of U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President and Rochester Hills (MI) Mayor Bryan Barnett, mayors from across the country will convene in Reno, NV from August 27 – 28 to discuss issues related to tourism, arts, and other activities that create opportunities for American cities and contribute to their economic vitality.  Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, who serves as the Chair of USCM’s Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports (TAPES) Standing Committee, will host the two-day meeting.

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27 at 11:30 am PDT.

During the two-day meeting, which will include a visit to Burning Man’s Black Rock City, mayors will exchange best practices and other ideas about how to maximize the powerful impact a city’s cultural assets can have on driving local economies and spurring innovation.  Additionally, on Tuesday, August 27 at 10 am PT, mayors will tour some of Reno’s art highlights, including the Playa Art Project, downtown murals, the Neon Line, Bicentennial Park, and City Plaza.
