Washington, DC — Below is a statement by U.S. Conference of Mayors CEO and Executive Director Tom Cochran on the sudden passing of former Newton (MA) Mayor Setti Warren.
“I am heartbroken to just learn that former Newton, Massachusetts Mayor Setti Warren has died suddenly at the age of 55. He was a very good and caring person. He was a positive person. As an active member of The United States Conference of Mayors, he was respected and appreciated for his positive but fun art of persuasion and leadership. And to so many of our staff at The Conference, his actions, his words, and his attitude showed he cared and was thankful for what we do every day for the mayors of this nation. It was an honor to work with him at Harvard as he took the helm of the Kennedy School Institute of Politics.
“My thoughts go out to his family. We have lost a good person who was a positive and happy warrior for the political good of our nation. They have lost a loved one. We thank them for his service and feel for them as they suffer deeply.”
