Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Conference of Mayors announced additional Biden administration officials and congressional leaders who will speak USCM’s 92nd Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C. from January 17 through January 19. All will share remarks with hundreds of mayors from across the country at the Capital Hilton.

The administration officials include U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Janet L. Yellen, U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm, and Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su.

  • Secretary Yellen will speak on Wednesday, January 17 during the morning plenary session.
  • Secretary Granholm will deliver remarks on Thursday, January 18 during the afternoon plenary session.
  • Acting Secretary Su will participate in multiple sessions on Wednesday, January 17, including the afternoon plenary as well as meetings with the Conference’s Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Alliance and Latino Alliance.

The bipartisan congressional delegation includes U.S. Senators Thom Tillis, John Hickenlooper, Chris Murphy, John Fetterman and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

  • Senator Thom Tillis will speak on Wednesday, January 17 during the Council on Metro Economies and the New American City session beginning at 8 am.
  • Senator John Hickenlooper will speak on Wednesday, January 17 during the Council on Metro Economies and the New American City session beginning at 8 am.
  • House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries will speak on Thursday, January 18 during the morning plenary session.
  • Senator Chris Murphy will speak on Thursday, January 18 during the morning plenary session.
  • Senator John Fetterman will speak on Wednesday, January 17 during the morning plenary session.

Presided over by USCM President Reno (NV) Mayor Hillary Schieve, the three-day conference will bring together a bipartisan group of more than 250 mayors from across the country to discuss the biggest challenges facing cities, including the surging mental health crisis, public safety, immigration, housing and homelessness, workforce development, and infrastructure investment. The annual gathering will also feature appearances from other national leaders, including other senior members of the public and private sectors.
