Washington, D.C. – Below is a statement by U.S. Conference of Mayors President, Columbia (SC) Mayor Steve Benjamin, on the death of Sacramento (CA) Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan:
“Mayors across the country mourn the tragic death of Sacramento Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan. The death of a police officer while on the job is one of the hardest thing we face as mayors. The fact that Officer O’Sullivan was only 26 years old, had been on the force for just six months, and was helping a woman collect her belongings to leave her home following a domestic violence incident make her murder even harder to take.
“Our hearts go out to Mayor Darrell Steinberg, the Sacramento Police Department and the entire Sacramento community at this difficult time. We send our condolences to Officer O’Sullivan’s family and friends.”
