Mayors from Around the World Gather for International Summit to Discuss Migration, Urban Security and Public Health
October 21 – 23, 2018
Washington, DC—Under the leadership of U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President Columbia (SC) Mayor Steve Benjamin, a delegation of mayors including USCM Vice President Rochester Hills (MI) Mayor Bryan Barnett, Dayton (OH) Mayor Nan Whaley and West Sacramento (CA) Mayor Christopher Cabaldon will join dozens of mayors representing cities from across the globe at the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM) in Bristol, UK. Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees will host the event from October 21 – 23, 2018.
Unlike any other urban network, the GPM is the first, and only, international organization exclusivley for mayors. During the summit, mayors from across Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the United States will discuss how they can leverage their experience as city leaders to help shape both national and international policy on some of the most critical global challenges of the day such as migration, security and public health. The decisions the group make will be used to influence policy with international organizations such as the United Nations.
