WASHINGTON, DC – As U.S. cities begin to recover and rebuild after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) Leadership will head to Miami and Key West this weekend to offer assistance and solidarity. USCM President Mayor Mitch Landrieu (New Orleans), Vice President Mayor Steve Benjamin (Columbia, S.C.), Second Vice President Mayor Bryan Barnett (Rochester Hills, Mich.), and CEO and Executive Director Tom Cochran will join Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and Key West Mayor Craig Cates on Sunday, October 1st.
In Miami the mayors will visit a volunteer warehouse facility that is providing aid to the residents of Puerto Rico. The delegation will join volunteers and organizers from Puerto Rico Rises, Hecny Group, Activados Por Puerto Rico, Reach Out America, Mana, ConPRmetidos and Unidos Por Puerto Rico and learn about the challenges they are facing with sending relief to Puerto Rico. In Key West, mayors will tour areas damaged by Hurricane Irma and help declare the city open for business and ready to receive visitors.
