Washington, D.C. – On behalf of The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) Elizabeth, New Jersey Mayor Christian Bollwage will testify before the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment on Tuesday, March 28th at 10 a.m. ET during a hearing titled “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Revitalizing American Communities through the Brownfields Program.”
During his testimony, Mayor Bollwage will explain that mayors of cities large and small view redevelopment of brownfields as an opportunity to bring jobs back to a community, revitalize neighborhoods, and reuse existing infrastructure.
He will also present evidence that the Brownfields Program has a proven track record of leveraging private sector investment, creating jobs, and protecting the environment and call for increased appropriations.
“For many people, brownfields are just the neighborhood eyesore or the former industrial site, but for Mayors they also represent unrealized economic potential. … If you are looking to revitalize infrastructure as well as create jobs, this is one of the best programs for investment,” he will assert.
