The Boston University Initiative on Cities is a global urban research center founded in 2014 that serves as
an interdisciplinary hub for urbanists, connects research and practice, and creates place-based
experiential learning opportunities for students. The Initiative marshals the talents and resources of wide-
ranging disciplines across Boston University, leads ground-breaking research on mayoral leadership, and
forges ties to cities locally, nationally, and globally in pursuit of sustainable, just, and inclusive urban
