Cities Forward
Description
Cities Forward is a nonpartisan nonprofit that partners with mayors and city governments to rebuild the civic infrastructure connecting residents to local government. We believe that when cities make civic participation a core function of how they operate, not just a priority during election season, residents engage more deeply and trust in local institutions grows.
Our model is built around city government, not alongside it. We convene broad coalitions of institutional partners and coordinate community outreach through trusted local organizations, turning fragmented engagement efforts into a coherent, citywide system that residents can rely on across election cycles.
Since our founding, Cities Forward has partnered with cities across the country, including Milwaukee, Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, and Minneapolis, with more partnerships on the horizon.
We work with mayors and city leaders who understand that participation doesn't happen by accident. It requires sustained investment in the relationships, systems, and trusted institutions that make residents feel like government is working for them. Cities Forward helps cities build exactly that.
