Census Task Force

About the Task Force

Mayors understand the importance of the decennial census and other census surveys which are used to collect data that are used to determine how political power and trillions of dollars in federal funds are distributed to state and local areas. During the decennial census, mayors serve on the Census Task Force to help identify local issues related to the census and promote a fair and accurate count of all people residing in local communities. On an ongoing basis, mayors help encourage city leaders and other stakeholder groups in local communities to work with the United States Census Bureau to help ensure a fair and accurate count of other census surveys important to local governments including the American Community Survey, Census of Governments, and the Economic Census.
