All USCM Member Mayors to receive 200 official match balls to use for celebrations around the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the largest World Cup ever hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico
Washington, D.C.— At the United States Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) Winter Meeting held in Washington, D.C. last week, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President David Holt, Mayor of Oklahoma City, announced that all USCM member cities will have the chance to receive 200 FIFA World Cup 2026 official match balls.
The initiative, ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, encourages all cities across the United States to celebrate the largest sporting event in history and embrace the power of sport to make impactful social and community change.
“With 48 teams, 104 matches and 16 Host Cities across Canada, Mexico and the United States, the FIFA World Cup 2026 will be a celebration of humanity, bringing people together in joy and football spirit,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “I was delighted to meet the mayors of the 11 U.S. Host Cities who will welcome the world in 2026, each bringing their own unique energy to this historic event.”
“We were thrilled to welcome President Infantino and the World Cup trophy to our Winter Meeting,” added USCM President David Holt, Mayor of Oklahoma City. “But the real highlight was President Infantino’s generous surprise gift of these official World Cup balls to every one of our member cities. This will bring the power of the World Cup to cities all across the nation, and I can’t wait to see how our Mayors share this awesome gift with their communities.”
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the first to feature 48 national teams competing in 104 matches across three host countries – the United States, Canada and Mexico – and 16 Host Cities, 11 of which are in the U.S including, Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium), Boston (Gillette Stadium), Dallas (AT&T Stadium), Houston (NRG Stadium), Kansas City (Arrowhead Stadium), Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium), Miami (Hard Rock Stadium), New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium), Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field), San Francisco Bay Area (Levi’s Stadium), and Seattle (Lumen Field).
At the Meeting, Mr. Infantino provided remarks on the economic and social impact that cities will feel, including over $30 billion in economic impact and millions of fans traveling across the United States. Earlier during the Winter Meeting, the FIFA President met with the representatives of the 11 US Host Cities.
