American Mayors: Pass the PACT Act Now

Veterans Day. US soldier. US Army. The United States Armed Forces. Military forces of the United States of America. Remembrance Day. Poppy day. Memorial day.

Washington, DC – Mayors across the nation stand with America’s veterans in support of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act and believe that senators must send this bill to the president for his signature. On behalf of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Veterans Affairs Task Force, Co-Chairs Charleston (SC) Mayor John Tecklenburg and Arlington (TX) Mayor Jim Ross issued the following statement on the situation:

“It’s past time for our country to do right by the veterans who have been exposed to toxic chemicals through their service to the country. Many of these veterans have suffered for decades, and we owe it to them to provide the care and benefits they’ve earned and need. No matter how bitter our politics, we cannot allow those who sacrificed for our freedom to be left behind. America’s mayors support our veterans and urge quick passage of this critical bill.”
