Speech to Focus on Infrastructure Investment, Re-Authorization of Surface Transportation Bill

Washington, D.C. – On Friday, June 28, Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR-04), Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, will address the nation’s mayors during the U.S. Conference of Mayors 87th Annual Meeting.  The Chairman will speak about his continued commitment to finding a bipartisan solution to infrastructure investment and talk with mayors about how to engage the federal government in addressing the nation’s critical infrastructure needs.

Chairman DeFazio will speak during the opening Plenary luncheon, which begins at 2:15 pm HST.  His speech will be live streamed here.

For the first time since 1963, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) will hold its Annual Meeting in Honolulu (HI).  Under the leadership of USCM President Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and host Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, more than 200 mayors from across the country will come together to discuss a wide variety of priorities that contribute to the overall health of America’s cities. They will also consider and adopt policy resolutions that guide the advocacy agenda of the organization. The Meeting, which will be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, will run through Monday, July 1, 2019.
