Washington, D.C. – Today, the top officers and CEO and Executive Director of The United States Conference of Mayors met with President-elect Donald J. Trump in New York City.

Participating in the meeting for The U.S. Conference of Mayors were:

  • Oklahoma City, OK Mayor Mick Cornett, President
  • New Orleans, LA Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu, Vice President
  • Columbia, SC Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin, Second Vice President
  • Burnsville, MN Mayor Elizabeth B. Kautz, Past President
  • Tom Cochran, CEO and Executive Director

During the meeting, the bi-partisan delegation discussed priorities related to infrastructure investment, public safety, unfunded federal mandates, and immigration.

In commenting on the meeting, Conference of Mayors President Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett said, “we had a very positive, wide-ranging discussion with President-elect Trump today, and we appreciate his strong desire to work with the nation’s mayors on shared priorities that can strengthen America’s metro economies.”

Almost 300 mayors will convene in Washington, DC for the 85th Winter Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors on January 17-19, 2017 – on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration. The Trump Administration has been invited to send top-level appointees from both the White House and federal agencies to engage with the mayors at the Winter Meeting.
