The Mayor’s Workforce Development Council (WDC) and the Mayors Standing Committee on Jobs, Education and the Workforce have played major roles in developing Conference policy as it relates to working families, jobs, education and workforce issues. The WDC and the Mayors Standing Committee on Jobs, Education and the Workforce continue to combine with the efforts of the Mayors Task Force on Poverty, Work and Opportunity to develop policy priorities promoting the Annie Casey Foundation’s Family Economic Success agenda.
There were a total of seven poverty policy resolutions officially adopted by The U.S. Conference of Mayors at the 77th Annual Conference of Mayors in Providence, RI. These include:
· American Investments to Combat Poverty
· Poverty
· Executive Orders and Administrative Actions to Combat Poverty
· Revising the Federal Measure of Poverty
· Supporting the Creation of the White House Task Force on Middle-Class Working Families
· Support for Mayors’ National Dollar Wi$e Campaign
· Require the Earned Income Tax Credit to be Calculated by the Internal Revenue Service to Better Accommodate Working Families and Individuals
