Community Trees Task Force Chair Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo on November 14 addressed the Partners in Community Forestry National Conference on “The Importance of Trees to Our Communities.” The conference, sponsored by the Arbor Day foundation and The Home Depot Foundation, brought together over 300 diverse professionals and volunteers to discuss promoting the growth of community forests and elevating the benefits of community trees. The two-day conference featured over 40 presentations which focused on community forestry issues from a variety of perspectives including urban planners, landscape architects, elected officials, public works professionals, foresters, arborists, non-profit leaders, developers, social scientists and volunteers.
