About the Mayor
Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas was selected by People magazine as the sexiest politician. The November 15 article quotes his wife Lilliam as adding, "He has the best smile. When he smiles he just puts you at ease." The article also states that due to approval ratings which hover in the high 60s, Mayor Penelas has also been mentioned in Vice President Gore's campaign camp as a potential running mate. Visiting The Conference of Mayors November 18, mayors and federal relations coordinators representing the Puerto Rican Federation of Mayors received an update on Conference activities.
