Following votes in their respective caucuses, the House and Senate have announced their leadership teams.
In addition to the House leadership changes resulting from the November elections, there will be many changes to the committee chairs and ranking members in both the House and Senate. Decisions on the committee leadership are expected following the Thanksgiving Recess.
Under Conference of Mayors President Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth B. Kautz, the Conference of Mayors has begun outreach efforts to the new Congressional leadership, and is working to bring key officials to the upcoming 79th Winter Meeting on January 19-21, 2011 in Washington (DC).
As agreed during the Conference of Mayors Fall Leadership Meeting, the organization will remain focused on job creation, infrastructure investment, energy security, small businesses expansion, and unfunded mandate relief. And with much of the discussion turning to deficit reduction, the Conference of Mayors will strengthen efforts to protect proven investment programs such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
