Mayors Ask What Youth Can Do: Mayors will visit middle and high schools to discuss their own paths to public service and why it is important for young people to be engaged in their community. In preparation for the mayor's visit, Harvard's Institute of Politics will provide each classroom teacher with a copy of President Kennedy's inaugural address and talking points for the address, in particular the President's call to service. The discussions will also look at the important role a mayor plays in the city. Video presentation of mayors speaking with young people and remarks on how his legacy has influenced mayors across the nation will be shown during the 79th Winter Meeting.

Caroline Kennedy will address the United States Conference of Mayors 79th Winter Meeting on The Legacy of John F. Kennedy on the 50th Anniversary of his inauguration and call for public service.
The Presidency of John F. Kennedy: A 50th Anniversary Celebration Opening Concert (for mayors attending 79th Winter Meeting): On the 50th anniversary of his inauguration, the Kennedy Center presents a special Opening Night Celebration paying tribute to the artistic legacy of President John F. Kennedy with the NSO, American Ballet Theatre, and more. This star'studded evening opens the Kennedy Center's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Inauguration of President John F. Kennedy.
