The city of Sugar Land (TX) — under the leadership of Mayor David G. Wallace — has recently been cited as having the lowest property tax rate in Texas. According to the Houston Chronicle, "The city has benefited from the expansion of the Houston metropolitan area but also has a vibrant and growing economic base of its own... and ongoing developments like Town Square (which includes a new city hall scheduled to open later this month) and the Lake Pointe Town Center should produce continued [economic] growth in the near-term."
