Incumbents Prevail in Mayoral Elections

In a vote of confidence for our nation's mayors, 87 percent of incumbent mayors who ran for office were returned to office. Incumbents returned to office include Washington, DC Mayor Anthony Williams, Little Rock Mayor Jim Dailey and San Leandro Mayor Sheila Young. Louisville Mayor and Past USCM President Jerry Abramson was returned to office with 73.4 percent of the vote after leaving office 4 years ago due to term limits.
Below is the status of over 200 mayoral elections from around the country. 108 elections have been completed, 89 mayors have yet to be selected by city Council and 5 elections were undecided when this newspaper went to print.
