Seattle, Indianapolis, Baton Rouge Receive Federal Drug Abuse Prevention Grants

In a Department of Health and Human Services announcement October 25, the cities of Seattle, Indianapolis and Baton Rouge were among recipients of drug abuse prevention funding from the department totaling $8.8 million. A total of 27 grants will be made to city, state, county, educational and community-based organizations. The funding will be used to support infrastructure development and interventions to prevent the abuse of so-called club drugs such as Ecstasy as well as methamphetamine and inhalants.
