Applications for the 2008 Dollar Wi$e Capacity Grants Program are now being accepted. The grants are sponsored by The United States Conference of Mayors and its Council for the New American City (CNAC) through the Mayors’ National Dollar Wi$e Campaign. Three grants will be announced—one for $25,000 and two for $15,000 each—at the Conference of Mayors winter meeting in Washington (DC) January 23-25, 2008. The grants are made possible by the financial support of Countrywide Financial Corporation, founding sponsor of the Dollar Wi$e Campaign.
The Dollar Wi$e Capacity Grants are awarded to enhance and expand recipient cities’ ongoing, creative, and innovative financial-literacy programs. “This is a great opportunity for cities to grow their Dollar Wi$e campaigns and increase citizens’ access to financial-education programs,” said Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick, CNAC chair.
Past winners have used their grants for a variety of purposes from hiring a director for their financial-education programs to increasing the number of workshops offered to the public. For more information or to submit an application, visit www.dollarwiseonline.org. Applications are due December 5, 2007.
