Mayors are leading the nation on arts initiatives and launching new programs that prove they understand the connection between the arts and business and the arts’ impact on the local economy.  To recognize these efforts, we are pleased to announce the Conference’s Public Leadership in the Arts Awards, which will be presented during our 77th Winter Meeting to be held January 17-19, 2009 in Washington (DC).  This awards program is jointly sponsored by The United States Conference of Mayors and Americans for the Arts, and honors elected officials and artists that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of the arts.
