Three months out from the 78th Winter Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has already confirmed his participation. LaHood will discuss the next federal surface transportation authorization and other key issues with the nation’s mayors on January 21 during the morning plenary session.
The Conference of Mayors has invited President Barack Obama, many key members of his Administration, and the bi-partisan leadership of Congress to meet with the nation’s mayors over the course of the three-day meeting, January 20-22, 2010 at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington (DC).
The Conference of Mayors will be focused on key legislative issues including energy/climate protection, developing a more city/metro oriented surface transportation bill, and job creation and economic recovery.
Mayors wishing to register for the meeting can find information online at usmayors.org or by calling Carol Edwards at 202-293-7330.
