Sugar Land (TX) officially became the first city in the nation to be named a Community of Respect® by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), with a formal recognition and presentation during the October 2 city council meeting at city hall. “Sugar Land has a tradition of embracing diversity,” said Mayor David Wallace. “The Community of Respect has given us an opportunity to promote togetherness and refute intolerance. It has been a community-wide exercise—a celebration of our differences and our similarities. I thank the ADL for working with us in this great initiative.” Left to right, Fort Bend ISD Superintendent Tim Jenney, Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace, and ADL Southwest Regional Director Martin Cominsky.
