October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

October 7, 2002

Mayors across the country are proclaiming October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) and undertaking related activities to emphasize mammography and the importance of early detection.

Promoted by the United States Conference of Mayors for more than a decade, NBCAM is an activity of The mayors' Campaign Against Breast Cancer, also initiated by the Conference of Mayors in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under a five-year cooperative agreement.

If you are interested in observing NBCAM in your city and would like further information about suggested activities and materials for NBCAM or the mayors' Campaign, please contact Liz Kresse at 202-861-6756 or by sending e-mail to lkresse@usmayors.org.
