Members of Mayors’ Business Council Provide Over $81 Million in Relief

Mayors’ Business Council Members provided over $81 million in financial contributions. Below is an update to previous financial contributions reported.
NCTA: over $24 million, via corporate members.
Freddie Mac: over $12.5 million
NFL: over $10 million via Monday Night Football telethon
Verizon: over $7.5 million (via double employee match program)
Altria: over $5 million
Starbucks Coffee Company, $5 million, as well as 10,000 lbs of coffee, 1,000 cases of water, contribution collection at all stores, and employee volunteer’s time matching with cash donations.
Daimler Chrysler: over $4.4 million
Sprint Nextel: $2.7 million
National Association of Realtors: over $2.3 million
$2 million: America’s Promise Alliance, Northrop Grumman
$1.6 million: Countrywide Home Loans
$1.5 million: 3M
over $1.1 million: DuPont
over $1 million: ICSC via corporate members
$1 million donors: AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Bechtel, Eli Lilly & Company, Fannie Mae Foundation, and Johnson Controls, Inc.
$600,000: Mortgage Bankers Association
$500,000: American Management Services, Honeywell Utility Solutions; Motorola, Inc; Nationwide Retirement Solutions.
$320,000: Holland & Knight
$250,000: Novelis Corporation
over $200,000: Parsons
$100,000: Black & Veatch; Waste Management, Inc.
over $50,000: CDM, Comcast (w/$10 million ad time), MWH, Inc.
$20,000: A&E Television Networks, EMA
$10,000: Cox Communications, Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson
$6,000: Destination Marketing Assoc. International
$5,000: Crabtree - Co., Inc.
$1,000: The Broadband Group
Most of the above organizations are participating in employee-match programs, as well as donating in-kind services. In-kind donations have totaled millions of dollars. Organizations donating employees, volunteers, supplies etc. are listed below.
CH2M/HILL team is working directly with FEMA to house 7,000 displaced persons.
Cherokee Investment Partners, LLC is assisting the EPA in assessing hazardous clean up.
Discovery Networks has provided food, shelter, counseling/education supplies/broadcasting Red Cross PSAs
EEI has dedicated 10,000 employees to aid in restoring power to the affected areas, many of which have been restored in just over one week.
InCharge Education Foundation, Inc. has removed deposits to creditors for those persons affected.
National Housing Group has been chosen to be HUD’s prime contractor in assessing immediate housing needs, has provided counseling and relocation services.
Purdue Pharma LP donated $760,000 of Betadine antiseptic and healthcare professionals to assist with relief efforts.
The above lists of financial and in-kind contributions are in no way a full accounting of the generous response by the members of the Mayors’ Business Council.
The United States Conference of Mayors would like to once again salute and thank the members of the Mayors’ Business Council for their immediate response to the cities in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and their continued support as we rebuild the areas devastated by this tragedy.
