Solid waste directors, environmental commissioners, public works administrators, and recycling managers will meet in Lexington (KY) October 20-22 to explore innovations in technology, engage in discussions around best practices, and identify new challenges for municipal environmental professionals.

"Lexington is pleased to host the 2004 Fall Summit," said Kevin Bennett, MWMA President and Solid Waste Director for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. "We-re going to highlight some of Lexington's successes, including our training facility, and hear form our colleagues, in both the public and private sector on issues important to managing a successful department." Sessions this year include Benchmarking Operational Efficiencies, featuring San Diego's successful re-routing program and EMS program at the landfill, Taking Advantage of Renewable Energy Credits, which explores how cities can take advantage of finding and selling RECs, and Safety Trends, which will help managers identify workplace hazards and operational best practices. You can view the full agenda, as well as register for the 2004 Fall Summit by logging on to www.usmayors.org/mwma.
