Miami Mayor Manuel Diaz is a member of the Selection Committee for the 2007 Rudy Bruner Awards for Urban Excellence, which recognizes excellence in architecture, urban design and planning.

Newark’s new mayor, Cory A. Booker, is profiled in the October issue of Esquire magazine. The article features his running commentary on violence in the city, but also highlights the New Jersey city’s efforts in providing cultural opportunities to school children in Summer programs. Says the mayor, “True leadership is not exhibited by how many people one can get to follow, but by how many people join together in leading. And so far, Newark is giving me profound hope.”
