Conference of Mayors Launches Fall Membership Campaign

September 19, 2011

The U.S. Conference of Mayors launched its fall membership campaign at the Florida League of Cities’ 85th Annual Conference August 11-13. Conference of Mayors staff hosted an exhibit booth and met with many Florida mayors including Conference Trustee Tallahassee Mayor John Marks and Advisory Board Members Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper, Miramar Mayor Lori Moseley, Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis, and Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez. During the three day event, Florida mayors heard about the many benefits of the Conference of Mayors with a special emphasis on current efforts to preserve funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the Community Oriented Policing (COPS) and other programs that benefit cities directly. Florida mayors were also encouraged to attend upcoming Conference events: The Winter Meeting January 18-20, 2012 in Washington, DC and the Annual Meeting June 13-16, 2012 in Orlando, FL.

As part of the fall membership campaign, Conference staff will exhibit at the Illinois Municipal League 98th Conference September 15-17; the League of California Cities Annual Conference and Expo September 21-23; and the Texas Municipal League 99th Annual Conference and Exhibition October 11-14.

The goal of the fall membership campaign is to provide outreach, encourage participation at Conference of Mayors events, and recruitment of non-members.
