Oklahoma City Mayor Cornett to Address Republican National Convention

August 25, 2008

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett has been invited to speak to the general session of the Republican National Convention.  The Convention is being held at the Xcel Center in St. Paul (MN) from September 1 to 4.

Over 2,000 delegates from all 50 states, plus six districts or territories, will meet in St. Paul to nominate U.S. Senator John McCain as the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

Cornett is believed to be the first Oklahoma elected official to address the Republican National Convention since then-Congressman J.C. Watts, Jr. in 1996.

The date and time of Cornett’s address is not yet available.

Cornett serves as President of Republican Mayors and Local Officials (RMLO), the national organization representing Republican mayors.  He has served as mayor of Oklahoma City since 2004.
