Chinese Mayors Visit Denver
August 5, 2002
After their Washington, DC visit, twenty mayors and business officials from the People's Republic of China arrived in Denver on July 18 for a two-day visit of the Mile High City. The Chinese delegation, representing the China Association of Mayors, met with Mayor Wellington E. Webb, Ron Bernstein, Director of the Mayor's Office of Economic Development and International Trade and Jim Martinez, Deputy Director of MOEDIT on Friday July 19. They held business meetings in Denver and took a ride on the Winter Park Ski Train before leaving for Los Angeles on July 21.
The China Association of Mayors hosted Mayor Webb's business delegation during the city's trade mission to Shanghai and Beijing, China in 2001. The city of Denver is the first U.S. city to have opened a trade office in the People's Republic of China.
