The TSA Received $3.85 Billion In The 2002 Supplemental Appropriation

The TSA Received $3.85 Billion In The 2002 Supplemental Appropriation To Cover Expenses For The Following:
- $738 million for physical modifications of commercial airport, such as installing checked baggage explosive detection systems and trace detection;
- $125 million for port security including $20 million for developing and conducting port incident training and exercise;
- $15 million to enhance security for intercity bus operations;
- $28 million to deploy Operation Safe Commerce
- $15 million for grants and contracts to procure air-ground communications systems and devices for the Federal Marshall program;
- $4 million for radiation detection system test and evaluations;
- $17 million for pilot projects to improve airport terminal security;
- $10 million for grants and contracts for security research, development and pilot projects; and
- $23 million for magnetometers at airport passenger screening locations.
