Palatine (IL) Mayor Mullins Joins Illinois State Senator to Create Accurate Gas Pricing System
July 28, 2008
The last six months has brought economic terrorism to the lives of working families in the United States in the form of ever increasing gas prices. Last month there was a report that the monitoring of the calibrations of fuel pumps, from gallons to dollars, may be off. The result is more money being charged than gallons pumped. This month, stories surfaced about surcharges for using a credit card are being added anywhere from .10 to .50 cents per gallon. That is legal only if it is posted and the consumer is aware of the charge.
Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins and Illinois State Senator Matt Murphy have teamed up to create an awareness program in Palatine that will make gas pricing in Palatine the most truthful and accurate in the state. Both Mullins and Murphy have asked the Palatine gas station owners to attend a meeting addressing pricing concerns. “Discrepancies will not be tolerated in Palatine” said Mullins. The mayor and Senator are calling on the motoring public to report any incidences to the Palatine Action Hotline at (847) 705-5200.
