• Support at least $1.8 billion for Amtrak in FY05.
• Support deferring the $100 million Amtrak loan — without a deferral of the U.S. Department of Transportation loan, actual FY05 Amtrak funding is $800 million — a full $400 million less than FY04 and $1 billion less than what Amtrak has said is needed.
• Oppose efforts through the Appropriations process to eliminate long distance routes.
• Oppose efforts through the Appropriations process that would breakup or begin to privatize Amtrak.
