July 26, 2004
Since being elected President of The United States Conference of Mayors in late June, Akron Mayor Donald L. Plusquellic has been traveling the country in an effort to build support for the Mayors '04 Metro Agenda, which focuses on key issues such as economic investment, job creation and homeland security.
Plusquellic participated in in a panel hosted by the National League of Cities in Orlando in July 12 on workforce and education issues. He then addressed a plenary session of the National Association of Counties annual meeting in Phoenix on July 20. And, on July 21, Plusquellic addressed the opening plenary session of the National Urban League meeting in Detroit.
Plusquellic has called a special meeting in Chicago on August 10-11 to be hosted by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley at which the Conference leadership will refine the bi-partisan policy agenda drafted by the Conference last year, and release it to the media.
Individual stories on Plusquellic's outreach efforts follow in U.S.MAYOR.
