Mayors Villaraigosa, Kautz Lead Conference Efforts on Poverty
July 24, 2006
Conference President Dearborn Mayor Michael A. Guido recently appointed Burnsville (MN) Mayor Elizabeth Kautz to the position of Co-Chair of the Task Force on Poverty, Work and Opportunity, where she will serve along side Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to shape and define the Conference’s agenda on poverty, work, and opportunity in America.
The Task Force, which has met three times since it’s inception September 2005, provides a forum for mayors and other national leaders to discuss local best practices and national policy changes that may reverse the devastating impact of poverty and the growing lack of meaningful work on the this country’s working poor.
Kautz is a newly appointed trustee of the Conference of Mayors as well as the former chair of the Conference’s Membership Committee.
