About the Mayor

Allentown (PA) Mayor Ed Pawlowski and a group from Lifechurch in Allentown recently traveled to Carrefour, Haiti, and built a playground for the children living there.
“For me it was life changing, I have never seen such poverty in my entire life,” said Pawlowski.
Before the playground, many played soccer in the streets or just sat curbside coloring. “I think we are bringing some hope to these kids and in a way we’re bringing just a little bit of enjoyment,” he said.
The equipment was donated by a company in Lewisburg, Union County, in Central Pennsylvania.
“As you can see, all the people, children specifically are so happy to have the playground,” said Carrefour, Haiti Mayor Yvone Jerome.
It’s also an experience that Pawlowski says will always remain with him as he tries to find more ways to help. “It’s such a needy country, that when you get back here to the states you realize how trivial your day to day problems really are,” said Pawlowski.
