On June 21, at the Opening Plenary Session, Title Sponsor TCP, Inc. CEO Ellis Yan complimented the mayors on their commitment to climate change and on their efforts to lead the nation and to engage citizens to change their behavior and do their part to protect and save the planet.
Yan emphasized TCP’s commitment to climate protection saying, "The 1.5 million CFLs we manufacture per day account for a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of more than forty-three billion pounds every year."
After pointing out that TCP has reduced the amount of mercury in its bulbs by 70 percent and is in the process of developing LED’s and linear products, he went on to say, " TCP… is on the front lines, researching, testing, developing and producing new and innovative technologies to light the world."
In closing Yan said, "It is just a light bulb — and you are all doing so much greater in your cities…. But our light bulb represents a commitment people are making to change and to protecting our planet."
Although CFLs are only one lighting solution, they are one of the easiest things to do to protect the planet and save money.
TCP is the world’s largest manufacturer of energy efficient lighting products and the first ever Title Sponsor for a USCM annual meeting.
