Cochran Outlines Christina Mattin Arts
Award at Women's Symposium in Boston
J. Thomas Cochran, Executive Director of the United States Conference of Mayors, was a guest speaker at a symposium presented by Wainwright Investment Counsel, LLC, an affiliate of H.C. Wainwright & Co. Inc. Entitled "Guiding Your Financial Health in the New Millennium", the complimentary symposium for women was held June 24th in Boston. The full-day symposium for both veteran and novice investors, provided comprehensive information on how to maximize investments.
Cochran discussed the recently announced Christina Mattin Arts Award for Programs Reaching Youth at Risk. This grant awards program honors innovative city arts programs in dance, theater, music, visual arts and other artistic media designed to reach at-risk youth. Cochran further described other important initiatives at the Conference, including handgun safety, transportation, education priorities, untapped markets and metro economies. Ms. Mattin, also a participant in the meeting, emphasized the impact of working with the mayors to create the arts award program and encouraged others to become involved.
Eric Bertonazzi, president of Wainwright Investment Counsel LLC described the goal of the meeting when he said "The rate at which women are starting new businesses far exceeds that of men. Coupled with the fact that an unprecedented generational transfer of wealth $10 trillion to $12 trillion soon will flow to men and women alike, it is imperative that we provide as much information as possible to women decision-makers. This symposium is a step in that direction".
Mr. Cochran later stated "so many programs in our cities are made possible by the generosity of private individuals such as those who participated in this symposium. It is important that our message be carried to people, both women and men, who make such a difference in the day-to-day lives of our citizens".
