Resolution for Mayor Menino at the 72nd Annual Conference of Mayors

THE HONORABLE THOMAS M. MENINO, MAYOR OF BOSTON, PAST PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF MAYORS, AND HOST MAYOR OF THE 72ND ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF MAYORS
WHEREAS, The United States Conference of Mayors held its 72nd Annual Meeting in the City of Boston from June 25-29, 2004; and
WHEREAS, with great energy and thoughtful planning, Mayor Thomas M. Menino opened the great city of Boston to the mayors of the cities and suburbs of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Menino and his excellent staff provided a variety of outstanding events to welcome America's mayors to his city, including the opening reception at the magnificent Boston Public Library, the evening at the renowned John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, the unforgettable Evening of Gospel Music with the Boston Pops, and the night out at the new entertainment center of Kings; and
WHEREAS, the mayor's staff and all city government staff, plus the wonderful volunteers from throughout the city, warmly and expertly welcomed the mayors of the United States and made sure that all aspects of the Annual Meeting were productive, information, and enjoyable, not only to the mayors but to all the spouses, children, and staff attending the conference,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that The United States Conference of Mayors extends its most sincere appreciation and most sincere thanks to Mayor Menino and his superb staff and city government, and to the volunteers who gave their very best effort, to ensure that the 72nd Annual Conference of Mayors would be a magnificent success and that every participant would feel welcome in this great city; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that The United States Conference of Mayors wishes the very best to Mayor Menino, his family, and the citizens of Boston as Boston continues to be a national model of the principles of the "New Urbanism," city livability, and revitalization.
