ÅAtlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin

Term Ending December 2009 — Served 8 years, Advisory Board Member. Franklin was the first female mayor and the first African-American woman to serve as mayor.

ÅVirginia Beach Meyera E. Oberndorf

Term Ended December 2008 — Served 20 years, Trustee. Oberndorf was the first directly-elected mayor and first woman mayor of Virginia Beach.

ÉCharlotte (NC) Mayor Patrick McCrory

Term Ending December 2009 — Served 14 years, Advisory Board Member. McCrory is Charlotte's longest serving mayor.

 

ÅAustin Mayor Will Wynn

Term Ending June 2009 — Served 6 years, Advisory Board Member. Under Mayor Wynn's leadership, Austin has become one of the greenest cities in the nation.

ÅPalatine (IL) Rita Mullins

Term Ended May 2009 — Served 20 years, Trustee. Mullins served on many committees and task forces during her tenure, including Chair of the Women's Caucus; Chair of the Arts, Culture, and Recreation Committee; and Chair of the Task Force on the District of Columbia.

ÉMeridian (MS) Mayor John Robert Smith

Term Ending June 2009 — Served 16 years. Smith served on Amtrak's Board of Directors from 1998-2003. He was the railroad's Chairman from 2002–2003.

ÅStamford (CT) Mayor Dannel Malloy

Term Ending December 2009 — Served 14 years, Trustee. Mayor Malloy is the longest serving mayor in the history of Stamford.
