USCM Honors Departing Leadership Mayors

June 28, 2010


Louisville (KY) Mayor Jerry E. Abramson has served 21 years as mayor and is also a Conference of Mayors Past President. Abramson was the first mayor of the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government. He served in many leadership positions at the Conference of Mayors including Chair of the Task Force on Youth Violence, Chair of the E-Governance Task Force, and Co-Chair to the Council for the New American City.

Trenton (NJ) Mayor Douglas H. Palmer was the first African-American elected as mayor and served for 20 years. As Past President, Palmer served in many leadership roles in the Conference of Mayors including Chair of the Membership Committee and the Urban Water Council.

Providence (RI) Mayor David N. Cicilline served eight years as mayor and also a Conference of Mayors Advisory Board Member. Cicilline served as Chair of the Children, Health and Human Services Standing Committee for three years, and also hosted The U.S. Conference of Mayors 77th Annual Meeting.

Honolulu (HI) Mayor Mufi Hannemann served five years as mayor and also as a Conference of Mayors Trustee Member. Hannemann chaired the Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment and Sports committee for four years.
