At the Sunday Plenary session, Vivian Jamal, Director of Business Development of the Economic Development Board, Kingdom of Bahrain, invited mayors to consider Bahrain — a nation off the coast of Saudi Arabia "where the action is" for trade and investment.
"Mayors can increase exports from and jobs in their cities" through working with Bahrain, she said, and the Bahrain Economic Development can help.
"Bahrain is the most open and multi-cultural area, and Forbes Magazine has named it the "best country for business in the Gulf, " with the most skilled and educated work force in the Gulf.
She pointed out that a foreign company not only owns one hundred percent of the company but also pays no corporation or income tax, and can repatriate all its profits.
"There have been a number of trade delegations between our two countries, and I invite any mayor who wishes to bring a delegation to contact us at the Economic Development Board," she said.
