Slater Announces $122 Million
for Border Infrastructure

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary
Rodney E. Slater, center, joined with impacted mayors, including Detroit
Mayor Dennis Archer, at right, and Chesapeake (VA) Mayor William E. Ward
to announce the awarding of $121.8 million in grants for 65 projects in 29
states as part of the National Corridor Planning and Development Program
and the Coordinated Border Infrastructure Program. The announcement on the
funding, which was authorized under TEA-21 to enhance the flow of commerce
with Canada and Mexico, was made June 9th during the Conference’s 68th
Annual Conference in Seattle.
