Detroit Mayor Showcases Next Year’s Annual Conference

June 26, 2000

Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer, host for next year’s Annual Conference set for June 22 – 26, 2001, told Mayors at the Monday Business/Plenary Session that his city is gearing up for an upbeat, festive meeting.

Mayor Archer promised delegates that Detroit, in the middle of a heralded urban renaissance, will feature the arts, museums, Detroit Tigers, and highlights of urban issues to share ideas on urban governance.

"It’s a great time to be in Detroit," Archer said, noting: "You ain’t seen nothing yet."

The Mayor promised that the Annual Conference would have something for everybody. He then treated delegates to a lively video presentation of some of Detroit’s urban amenities.
