A new chapter in U.S. MayorVision began during the Denver meeting where mayors were able to view guests being interviewed by Conference Executive Director and host of U.S. MayorVision, J. Thomas Cochran.
Modeled after successful national talk show formats, guests, which included conference speakers and mayors, were interviewed following their presentations at the annual conference. The webcasts were taped and were then placed on the Conference's web site: usmayors.org. The sessions are available for viewing at anytime by accessing the Conference's web site.
"This begins a new chapter in bringing the information mayors need to know directly to the mayors," stated Cochran in launching the new service. "We are using the latest technology available and taking advantage of the mayors and guests we have here at the Denver meeting."
Since its launch at the Winter Meeting in January, U.S. MayorVision has produced a number of web casts on such issues as homeland security, travel and tourism and COPS funding. These webcasts allow for "live" interaction participation by cities across the country.
Sessions taped at the Denver meeting included outgoing San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Barcelona Mayor Joan Clos, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, HUD Deputy Secretary Alphonso Jackson, Duane Meeks, CEO, Nationwide Retirement Solutions, author Richard Florida, new National Urban League President Marc Morial, San Leandro Mayor Shelia Young, San Bernardino Mayor Judith Valles, Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, and incoming Conference President Hempstead (NY) Mayor James A. Garner. All of the webcasts are available for viewing at usmayors.org
