Houston Mayor Lee Brown Honored for Outstanding Public Service

During the June 7 City Livability Luncheon of the 71st Meeting of the U. S. Conference of Mayors, Houston Mayor Lee Brown was honored for his six years of exemplary service to the City of Houston.
After three terms of service, Mayor Brown will be ending his service as the Mayor of Houston. Brown was first elected in 1997 as the 50th Mayor of Houston; and reelected in 1999 and again in 2001.
In addition to his service as Mayor, he served in the Clinton Administration as Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy from 1993 to 1996. He also served as the former Commissioner of Police for the cities of New York City, Houston, and Atlanta.
Mayor Brown was elected to the Conference of Mayor's Advisory Board in 1999 and served as an active member of various standing committees and task forces for the Conference.
